Before we start this Gerber Groundbreaker review, the story goes a little bit like this. One of our loyal customers called us towards the end of last year and asked us if we had gotten and of the “Gerber Groundbreaker” stock. Heck, we didn’t even know that that was, but once we looked into it we saw real quick that there was a such thing as our customer desired, the Gerber Groundbreaker Electrician’s Tool<\/a>, model 31-001440.

The Gerber Groundbreaker keeps you from running back and forth to the truck<\/h2>\n

If your job is the type where you run cable or work in construction then the Gerber Groundbreaker 31-001440<\/a> is going to do one thing very well for you. It is going to keep you from running back and forth to the truck! At first sight this tool has all you would expect from an electricians tool. It’s got wire strippers of just about every size imaginable, two sizes of wire benders, crimpers, cutters, plier jaws. But that is where the norm stops and where the Gerber Groundbreaker just begins to stand out from the rest.<\/p>\n

To make things even better, Gerber included a belt carry pouch that fits the Groundbreaker perfectly. It has a few other pockets to hold anything else you had in mind. A special loop on the outside of the pouch allows you to carry your electrical tape by simply snapping it in place. This keeps your electrical tape handy where you can use it without even detaching it from the pouch.

\nWhat really makes the Groundbreaker stand out from the rest is that both handles on this tool detach and become multitools themselves. On one handle a utility knife is found. How clever. And to sweeten the pot a little more Gerber included an extra 6 utility blades with the package to make sure you don’t run out.<\/p>\n

The other side of the handle that detaches has a drywall knife and a hex driver. The drywall knife has a point on it where you can stab into drywall before sawing. The hex driver comes with 6 drivers that consist of 2 philips bits, 2 flathead bits, and 2 Robertson bits.
